TONI PAYNE, OLAMIDE PART WAYS

By Osagie Alonge

The popular talent manager and estranged wife of popstar 9ice, Toni Payne has reportedly dropped young rapper oLamide from her Toni Payne Concept management outfit.

Sources say Toni Payne allegedly terminated the management deal because she had once or twice caught the young rapper performing at shows without her consent. oLamide was said to have been collecting performance fees also.

We’re told the last straw that broke the camel’s back was when the rapper was said to have attended a gig sponsored by Coca Cola alongside his record label mates at CODED Tunes after Payne had boycotted the show and instructed him not to go only to find out on Twitter that he indeed attended.

‘I don’t want to talk about it. I won’t say anything about it’, Toni Payne said when our reporter reached her on her mobile phone.

Several attempts to reach oLamide himself proved abortive as his phone was answered by a certain Labo who claimed to be his manager. ‘No comment’, Labo said when he was confronted with the matter.

oLamide who is signed to ID Cabasa’s CODED Tunes records and known for his street anthem ‘Eni duro’ released his debut work ‘Rapsodi’ in March 2011 and has received four nominations at the forthcoming The Headies awards.

In related news, Toni Payne has been said to have relocated to her new house in Magodo, Lagos.

Payne who used to live with her grandmother in Surulere area of Lagos is still furnishing her 2-bedroom flat which attracts a one million naira yearly rent.

Terry G’s Drug Confession

Terry G’s Drug Confession Nigerian hip hop star, Terry G a.k.a. Hitman, has disclosed that Nigerian singers, who smoke anything from cigarettes to prohibited drugs, use ‘supplements’ to wash the chemicals out of their bodies to stay healthy.

The 25-year old music act who hails from Benue State, North Central Nigeria, was a performing guest artiste at Emzor wellness race organised by Emzor Pharmaceuticals Company recently.

“We use supplements to wash drugs out of the system. There are supplements to that effect. We also do a lot of exercises and that’s why I am here to support Emzor in their race advocacy benefits,” Terry G said in a press briefing shortly before the Emzor wellness race started.

The Executive Director, Emzor subsidiary, Mr. Marcel Ezeoke, explained that his company has consistently organised the race to sensitise Nigerians about benefits of running.

He said: “We believe that health is wealth and a healthy nation is capable of growing wealth in all sectors of the economy thus the monthly contest serves as an avenue for us collectively to exercise once a month as a big family.”

The 19th edition of the 8km marathon takes place every third Saturday of the month, he said. It was learnt that last Saturday, 1068 athletes participated with 420 of them professional athletes.

Terry G was born in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria on the 17 March 1986.

His unique style, called chante chante, it was learnt, is the result of a lifetime of musical influence.

At age five, it is said, he started playing the drum, later he began to play the piano and bass guitar, which he continued with for many years before he finally took the bold step of pursuing a professional career in music at the age of 16.

After realising that making music was his main goal he switched to circular music and worked as a back up artiste for Faze of Plantashun Boiz for two years.

Shortly after he began to showcase his talent in various realms across the city of Lagos and beyond. He has since produced 9ICE, 2-SHOT, TIMAYA, NAETO C, AWILO, YQ, and late the DAGRIN.

D'BANJ AND MOHITS RECORDS CREW IN ILLUMINATI PLOT TO TURN THE NATION GAY

Eventually there’s undeniable explanation that Nigerian megastar entertainer, D’Banj, and other members of Mo’Hits record label lead by bountiful producer, Don Jazzy, are 100 pc confirmed members of the uber-evil secret cult, the Illuminati.

The certain proof was offered by artists of the record label themselves, causing Nigerians to philosophically comment that ‘they have used their own hands to do themselves.’ The proof in query is a video clip produced by the record label in which D’Banj, Don Jazzy, Doctor Sid, Wande Coal and an unidentified man dance like gay men to D’Banjs’ new hit single, Oliver Twist. Doctor Zen Solonso, a Zen expert and a leading name on everything Illuminati, analysed the video and exposed all of the concealed Illuminati symbols in it.

According to him, one of the largest objectives of the Illuminati is to turn everyone gay this is the reason why their known members like Kanye West, dress like Gay men. It might be remembered that D’Banj and Don Jazzy have just signed on to Kanye Wests’ record label.

In the group’s Oliver Twist video, they didn’t only dance like gay men, they also invite folk to record their own Oliver videos and post it to them at olivermohitsrecords.com. And they further lured folk with thousands of bucks that’ll be paid to the best video.

Already there are a large number of videos on Youtube showing younger people, both lads and lasses, dancing like gay men to the Oliver Twist song.

Doctor Solonso also indicated that in the group’s video Don Jazzy is wearing what seems to be checkered trousers. “This swapping pattern of white and black squares is the Illuminati’s mind control method,” he claimed. Indeed, according to the expert, the song’s familiar tune and highly danceable sound is down to Don Jazzy’s pants.

Doctor Solonso also indicated that at some specific point in the video the unidentified man walks across the camera, holding a red bag and what appears to be a fascinated horn. Eventually , the expert turned the spotlight on the sound speakers and other electronic apparatus organized to spell the word ILLUMINATI behind the artists as they dance like gay men. This, according to him, is the most powerful proof the video, the track, and the invite for folks to video their own Oliver Twist videos are nothing apart from an Illuminati plot to turn Nigerians gay.

REVEALED; REAL REASONS STAR ACTOR JIM IYKE AND KATE HENSHAW LOST OUT OF GLO DEAL

Telecommunications giants,Globacom Ltd recently concluded the annual assessment of its brands faces, otherwise known as Glo Ambassadors and at the end of the day, the name of 2 prominent Nollywood stars in its usual line-up of Ambassadors were conspicuously missing.

Effectively, Kate Henshaw and Jim Iyke have been dropped as Glo Ambassadors.

Though there are multifarious parameters for the assessment of the activities of Glo Ambassadors, including inputs from different departments of the company and public relation experts, we can reveal to you that the dropped Nollywood stars have been found wanting in their roles as Glo Ambassadors, hence the refusal to renew their contracts.

The company is keeping mum on its decision to drop the two stars but while most of the other Glo Ambassadors have represented the company at numerous events, Kate Henshaw seemed to be riding her own waves as she has hardly answered the calls of the company.

From our own tracking, the only Globacom event which Kate Henshaw has honoured for a very long time was the official launch of the company’s submarine cable known as Glo 1 in October last year. Apart from her presence in one of the recording of Glo Naija Sings last year as a Glo Ambassador, Kate Henshaw Nuttal has been nowhere to be found, near a Globacom event for a very long time.

At a point,a lot of people have wondered if Kate Henshaw was still a Glo Ambassador.

Jim Iyke on his part, has obviously had to grapple with a lot of image issues for a very long time and it was obvious that the company would decide to do away with his services as a brand face. He has also hardly been present at Globacom events.

One of the few events Jim Iyke can be remembered to have attended for Globacom was the official presentation of P-Square to the media as Glo Ambassadors in August 2010.

Apart from seeing his face in couple of Globacom press commercials, it has been lost on quite a number of people that Jim Iyke was still a Globacom Ambassador for sometime now.

Meanwhile, a lot of Nollywood stars who were retained as Glo Ambassadors have always seized every opportunity to re-affirm their commitment to the company.

Apart from always being there when the company needs them, they constantly remind Nigerians that they are Globacom Ambassadors from their activities as well as promoting the company at every turn.

This was the case when Sammie Okposo took his wife to the altar last year.

Other Glo Ambassadors like Uche Jombo and Funke Akindele are also known to give out Glo souvenirs to people at every opportunity.

Furthermore, this crop of ambassadors and others are always there when the company calls them.A Monalisa Chinda, just like a Desmond Elliot always answers the call of the company which in effect was even part of the deal in the first place.

Our investigations revealed that though the company understands that these stars are always very busy and may not be there sometimes when they are called, when it becomes a pattern to treat the invitation of the company with levity, it becomes repulsive, especially since the Globacom deal has become the mainstay of most of these stars in the last few years as actors and actresses no longer earn the huge sums they used to from acting.

Meanwhile, though Globacom has replaced Jim Iyke and Kate Henshaw-Nuttal with two new movie stars,it has also expanded the portfolio by one.

The newest stars to sign deals with Globacom as Ambassadors are Kunle Afolayan,Odunlade Adekola and Jamila Umar Nagudu.

These stars were picked by Globacom to broaden its reach in the Yoruba and Hausa language movies industries.

The three new stars were picked after a meticulous assessment by the company which reinforced their pivotal position in the entertainment world.

It was also a testimony to how well they have done for themselves.

Being a Globacom Ambassador comes with a lot of perks. Apart from the contract fee, the brand faces are paid when they are invited for Globacom events, especially outside their area of residence.

They are also paid allowances for taking part in Globacom commercials. When a commercial is being shot outside the country, apart from their allowances, they are flown with their managers on first-class to locations outside the country.

These Ambassadors also benefits from the magnanimity of the Chairman of the company, Dr Mike Adenuga Jnr when they impress him with their output in commercials.

However, to remain a Glo Ambassador, you need to continue to be relevant in the industry from which you were picked. For instance, Sunny Nneji who had a different kind of contract with Globacom, unlike the Nollywood stars has been given a long rope by the company as a result of his inactivity in the music industry for sometime now. The company is not impressed that he has not been making waves lately. Same goes for Stereoman Ekwe.

A lot of these stars try their best in order not to put the wrong foot forward and to them, image is everything.Monalisa Chinda was quick to prove that her break-up with her ex-husband was not any fault of hers while Uche Jombo has since done away with her skimpy clothes.

You simply need all the respect and relevance you can get to remain a Glo Ambassadors and staying away from scandals is one sure bet.

Ask Mercy Johnson, who would have been one of the lucky few today if not for the scandalous stories that have tarnished her image, though she nonetheless denies them all.

SENSATIONAL DUO,P-SQUARE IN THEFT SCANDAL

The duo of Peter and Paul Okoye popularly known as P- Square may have to contend with an allegation of song theft.

Nollywood star actress, Steph-Nora Okere recently alleged that the sensational duo stole materials from Jeje, one of the tracks in her yet-to-be released debut album. Incidentally, the 14-tracker album titled(THE INVATION) released by the twin-brothers on their Square Records (SR) has a song entitled Jeje, and featured RnB/Soul crooner, Waje.

The actress cum producer who is just making a foray into music sampled the opinion of Jude Okoye, the elder brother of the stars, several months ago with her own version of the song.

Steph-Nora reveals that she sought the opinion of the elder Okoye based on mutual respect and his experience as a moving force behind the success of P Square. The visibly upset actress says: “What they did was to remix the chorus of my version to a danceable track. That was not all; they also gave their version the same title, Jeje and featured Waje.”

She explains further: “I sent the song over to Jude via email and he listened to it. The next day I called him for his opinion and he said exactly these words ‘Stephnora the song is good but don’t release it like that because it doesn’t meet the standard of the Nigerian market’. I asked him what should be done and he suggested that I return to the studios and brush it up.

“As a brother and colleague, I took his advice and went back to the studio with my producer, Jiff. I also consulted with my manager, and we agreed to improve on the work ahead of the album launch, which I planned for this December. I finally completed the song in May/ June. But to my consternation, two weeks ago my personal assistant called my attention to P Square’s new album, which included a track entitled Jeje.”

Ope Banwo in his reaction disclosed that he intended to file a copyright infringement lawsuit against P Square next week if they do not respond to their demand letter. “This kind of thing should not be tolerated. P Square is a big group that should not take advantage of up and coming artistes and their friends. Stephnora trusted them and they stabbed her in the back,” he added.

Jude Okoye was contacted on phone,he denied stealing or tampering with Steph-Nora’s song. He however, challenged the actress to go to court if she feels otherwise, adding that she was only seizing the occasion to attract more attention to her acting career.
