2011 Oscar Awards: And The Winners Are
The 83rd annual Academy Awards (popularly known as the Oscars) went down last night Sunday, February 27, 2011. The grand event which took place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood,California was hosted by Anne Hathaway and one of this years nominee, James Franco as announced earlier.
The big winners of the night were ‘The King’s Speech‘ and ‘Inception‘ who both bagged four Oscars each. ‘The Social Network‘ followed with three while ‘Alice In Wonderland‘, ’The fighter‘ and animated movie ‘Toy Story 3‘ all received two awards.
The ‘Best Actor’ award was given to Colin Firth for his stellar performance in ‘The King’s Speech‘ while actress Natalie Portman received the ‘Best Actress’ award for her lead role in ‘Black Swan‘. Awards for best supporting actor and actress were given to Christian Bale and Melissa Leo respectively. The biggest surprise of the night however was when the award for ‘Best Director’ was given to Tom Hooper for the movie ‘The King’s Speech‘ which was nominated along side fans favourite, David Fincher for the film ‘The Social Network‘.

BEST SOUND MIXING – Inception (Lora Hirschberg, Gary A. Rizzo and Ed Novick)
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE – The Social Network (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR – Christian Bale (The Fighter)
