How P-Square's Mum Died 5 Hours After Surgery

It is no more news that Mrs Josephine Okoye, mother of Nigeria's music superstars, Peter and Paul of P-Square group, has died but how she died might be of interest.

According to what an online magazine gathered, Mrs Josephine died five hours after she successfully underwent a heart surgery. The exact heart illness was not disclosed but we learnt that the surgery was a success.

However, we could not confirm what led to her death five hours after the success of the operation.

We scooped that Mrs Okoye was admitted in an Indian hospital in Kolkota. She was flown to India in May 2012 after her condition deteriorated after being admitted at St Nicholas Hospital, Lagos. She died at 11pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2011.

Mrs Josephine was a church minister in Jos, Plateau State. She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. Her last publicised outing was in 2011 at the 'Invasion' album launch of P-Square in Lagos.

What movie project have you been working on lately?

The movie project is have been working on lately is titled “Amope Alasela”. It is comedy with an interesting story line. The movie is produced by me under my production outfit called Playgirl Production and features movie artistes like Sola Fosudo, Ronke Ojo, Razak Olayiwola, Nike Idris, Sunkanmi Omobolanle, Jide Awobona, myself and several other actors. It was directed by Muyideen Sasiliu. It will be released in July and will be marketed by Almoroof Standard Investment.

It seems you deliberately went underground in the last few months. What has been responsible for this?

I actually work but I wouldn’t appear in all movies. I am not the kind of person that wants to do everything. I only feature in movies I enjoy to be part of the production. I am selective when it comes to acting in movies.

What are the things you consider before accepting to be part of a movie production?

The most important thing is the storyline. If I like the storyline then I will feature in the movie. I also look at other movie artistes that will feature. I also consider who is directing the movie. These are the things I consider before accepting to be part of any movie production.

Are there movie starts you are comfortable working with?

I am comfortable working with every actor or actress who is intelligent. Acting is also a give and take kind of thing. The actor or actress you I have a dialogue with, has to be intelligent. Once an actor or actress is playing his or her part well am good with the person.

In recent times there has been a sort of revolution into comedy movie production in the Yoruba movie industry?

I think it is the market and essentially what lovers of Yoruba movies want to watch. At a time people craved for movies which had storylines of crime.

What informs this gentleness about you which you exhibit?

I think it has to do with my nature. I don’t catch my trip being hyper or everywhere. I have a calm nature and I look well before I take my actions. That does not suggest ‘am an introvert. I talk and gist when I see people ‘am familiar with.

How do you handle male suitors as a star actress especially now that you are out of marriage?

That is true I have a couple of guys who want to go out with me but am mature minded and know how to handle men. There is a way you tell somebody “No” without being rude to the person.

Does that suggest you are in any relationship for now?

(laughs) Yes I am in a relationship.

Is it the same relationship that created some much attention about you dating an official of a parastatal like a year ago?

Really? (laughs) I am a relationship and ‘am enjoying every bit of the relationship.

Are you going to give marriage a trial?

If it comes why not? Definitely I will give marriage a trial. There are several level-headed men around. So I will give marriage another try someday.

Do you think you and your ex-husband, Goriola Hassan can reconcile?

Capital NO. I don’t see anything of such happening we are not just compatible. We can never reconcile, never.

What didn’t you see the incompatibility while you were together?

As human beings we are not perfect. We make mistakes and learn from our actions. Life experiences can come in the hard way or any other way.

What are the irreconcilable difference that is responsible for your not coming back?

His ways are not my ways. And I don’t think anyone in a relationship that is not bringing happiness should stay.

How many years did the relationship last?

The relationship lasted for about 8 years.

What does being out of the marriage leave you with?

It leaves me a happier person. I have also been able to discover myself. There are several things now I can do all by myself now than before.

How far is it true that you parked out of the house in the middle of the night?

Yes I parked out of the house in the middle of the night. I don’t want to relive my past.

You both have the same tattoo drawn on your arms. That obviously is a sign an attachment

(cuts in) I have started undergoing series of surgeries abroad to clear the tattoo off my body.

I am just tired of having tattoos on me. I have mellowed now on all those stuffs. I am now more spiritual and my religious inclinations kicks against it.

Who is responsible for the upkeep of your son?

I don’t want to go into that for the sake of my son.

As a single mother, how do you cope with paying bills?

Don’t forget I work moreover God has been good to me.

He must be god-fearing. I mean a real god-fearing man because there are so many fake God fearing men around. He must also be humble even if he owns the world. Humility means a lot to me. He must also be cool and nice to me.

What if the man in your life demands your hand in marriage?

Of course, I will marry him. And no further comments on that please.

There are strong insinuations that the man in your life is married…

That is not true. The man in my life is single. He is 100% single.

He has never been married.?

What do you like about him?

He is god-fearing and really understands me well including my short comings.

BISOLA'S EXPERIENCE: I Took Off My Underwear

I used to be that innocent girl who had the world at her feet. I was beautiful and I had eyes and hips that could make men sway, and to top it all up, I was a Christian, a very good Christian with a heart burning for God.

When I entered the university, I met a guy, his name was Derrick. I couldn’t believe my luck the first time I bumped into him on my way to class, he had such a kind smile and a tender look that weakened my knees when he spoke.

Because I was late for class we couldn’t talk much but barely three weeks later, I met him at the fresher’s night party and I was overwhelmed. We got talking and I found out that he was in his second year and from that night, we became an inseparable pair.

At first, we were friends and as months passed by, we got closer and closer and the chemistry between us was undeniable.

About a year after I entered the university, Derrick and I started dating. He was everything a girl could ever want and desire save the fact that he wasn’t so much of a Christian. Derrick had magical hands that made him hard to resist and most times I fell for it. At first, I felt bad but when I couldn’t help falling into the same pit I killed the guilt on my inside. And then one day, one of my friends said I was getting fatter and that got me thinking and in the process I began to link the dots…first I had a vomiting spree every morning which I thought was due to a flu and then I had this morning sickness which I felt was due to stress and then my missing period…oh no it can’t be possible I said to myself, I couldn’t be pregnant!!!

After a series of test outside school, I realized the deadliest truth, I was indeed pregnant. I was only nineteen, I still had a whole life ahead of me, what was I going to do. I couldn’t tell my parents, they wouldn’t hear of it. I had to go to Derrick to tell him what I had found out.

On telling him, I saw him fly into a temper I had never seen in my life. He was so hysterical, calling me all sorts of names and I didn’t even know when I started crying heart drenching tears of hurt and betrayal. When he looked into my eyes he must have realized how scared and hurt I was and so he pulled me close and ran his hands through my hair until I had calmed down and then he said tome in the most subtle voice ever ”why don’t you have an abortion”.I pulled back instantly, I couldn’t have an abortion! But when he talked about my parents and the sanctioning of the school and the fellowship which I belonged to, I knew I had no other choice.

Derrick had made all the arrangements and so on the supposed day we went to the room- like clinic.

I shivered all through my way there but Derrick kept telling me that it would be okay and that he was proud that I made such a brave decision.

When I entered into the room where the abortion was supposed to take place I laid down on the table trying to dissociate my mind from what I was about to do and then a young man told me sternly, ” you know I can’t perform this procedure with your underwear on” and then I began to pull it off.

As I did this a sense of guilt overwhelmed me, first I had pulled off my underwear of pleasure and now I was pulling it off to get rid of the stigma the pleasure had brought…what a shame, I felt so exposed.

All through the times that I felt instruments coming in and out of me, I kept thinking of the lady I had become and the hypocrite I had transformed into. I let out a sigh, only if I can get through this I muttered… only if…and then I felt a sharp pain pierce through the whole of my body, I screamed but then the doctor told me to be quiet. I felt another pain but this time I bit my lip and then the pain began to come in successions. I instinctively knew that something was wrong but I was too weak to talk or to move and then I heard the voices of Derrick and the doctor talking about the fact that I was bleeding excessively.

The pain was so unbearable and I could feel myself getting weaker and weaker. With the last strength in me, I pleaded with God ”Oh Lord I’m so sorry for taking my under wears off, please forgive me.” and I drifted into a world where the pain seemed less hurtful and the voices seemed more distant.

Friends, our bodies are the temple of the Lord… Do not take off your underwear when the time is not right. Lots of girls who gained admission into the university as virgins eventually lost it so cheaply to guys who have nothing to do with their destinies. 2Shotz Allegedly Scams Varsity Students**Abandons Show After Getting 6 Girls

Information getting to Amebo International has it that Omunamo crooner; 2Shotz allegedly defrauded some students of Lead City University, Ibadan to the tune of 150,000 naira.

According to an e-mail sent to an online blog from a source, 2Shotz was alleged to have collected the money to honour an event at the university but abandoned the show after being provided with what he asked them to get him.

A copy of the e-mail sent to us is presented below with some proofs of the transaction between the two parties.

This incidence happened on the 21st of May 2012. An undisclosed name contacted 2shotz via twitter to be a part of a fashion show called “FashionMIX” to be held on the 24th of May 2012. After the brief conversation, 2shotz asked the organizers to pay the sum of 100,000 on the 22nd May 2012 before 10am to seal the deal.

The team complied; they paid the money in full (100,000) to 2shotz Zenith bank account before 10am that morning.

On the 23rd was the agreed date to leave Lagos for Ibadan where the event was being held, 2shotz asked the organizers come pick him up at his house: 13 Sobo Siffre Street, Arowojobe estate, Mende, Maryland, near suya spot:

By 3pm the organizers of the event arrived at 2shotz house to pick him up, he then said he’s coming with two extra persons, he’s PA and an artiste with the name Ruffcoin.

We provided the car “rover salon car” (4 doors) after a while 2shotz entered the car and they drove out, in less than 10mins he said the car doesn’t have an air conditioner, that we should get another car.

Without fail, we got a SIENA SPACE BUS, 2shotz and his team refused to join the car and used the team “this industry na parkaging, we gats enter car with AC” they now said for them to show up, we must pay the sum of 50,000 extra, They called this charge: (The Driving Inconvenience Charge).

After a long deliberation and argument, 2shotz then said ok, the organizers should give him 30,000 instead of the 50,000.

The time was already past 6pm, while the other event crew in a bus had left since 3pm, so we had no choice than to leave Lagos without 2shotz, which made the organizer spent an extra 10,000 which wasn’t budgeted for.

The follow day the organizer went back to Lagos to pick 2shotz (24th May 2012) which was the event day, 2shotz and his team arrived by 12pm, leaving the organizer another un-budgeted expense of 16,000.

Immediately on his arrival, he was escorted to his hotel suite (2 rooms chaplet), shortly 2shotz requested for 6 girls and drinks, in less than one hour all he asked for was provided for him and his team.

Event was scheduled for 6pm, 2shotz didn’t show up, as at about 10pm one of the organizer went ahead to check up on him, 2shotz was drunk and asleep with his team and girls.

The following morning he woke up and requested 8,000 for his cab fare back to Lagos.

The job 2shotz was paid for wasn’t achieved or was in a bit supported by him.

The students of lead city university request a re-fund and sound this as a warning to Nigerian Artiste not to engage in fraud.

 

UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS IS NOW RENAMED MOSHOOD ABIOLA UNIVERSITY BY PRESIDENT JONATHAN

News just getting to Amebo International confirm that there is heavy protests in Jibowu, Yaba and its environs by students Moshood Abiola University (MAU) formerly known as University of Lagos (UNILAG) over the name change this morning by President Jonathan.

The President changed the university's name is a nationwide broadcast this morning. The news has now been greeted with protests by the university's students, who kicked against it.

According to reports, hundreds of the university's students have trooped out to protest against the President's decision.

They have taken over Yaba, Jibowu and the adjourning roads to MAU.

Some of MAU students talked to told Amebo international representative that the news came at the time the university community was mourning the loss of its Vice Chancellor.

Another student told our representative that the name change would drop the pride of being called a UNILAG student. "I can't just imagine telling people that I went to MAU and not UNILAG. The new name sounds 'odd'. The President should reverse to the old name," the student fumed.

An ex-student of the school told Amebo INternationalthat the name change is not a welcomed idea.

University of Lagos has always been the pride of many student. Some even go to the school just to brag of being an ex-student of the school.

Baba Suwe Truly Ingested Hard Drugs—NDLEA Boss Finally Opens Up

In October 2011, the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) got a worldwide coverage and attention with Baba Suwe’s alleged drug ingestion. On November 4, he was finally released from the NDLEA’s custody when the agency could not find any drug on him not after he had spent about 21 days with them.

Baba Suwe’s NDLEA brouhaha became blown up due to his status as a top Nollywood actor.

Seven months after the world stage drama, the Commander of NDLEA, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Mr. Hamza Umar has finally opened on the saga that almost put its agency’s credibility into the mud.

In an interview with Sunday Trust, Umar said, ”this machine you are seeing here is 99.9 percent accurate. It has never said this man has this and we find contrary. You said apart from, I know you are going into Baba-Suwe’s matter.”

Clarifying the Baba Suwe’s unique case, he said further, “let me clarify myself. You see, before his arrest, I do not know who Baba-Suwe is. My binding factor with Baba-Suwe is that machine.

“He was travelling with a group of friends and the machine picked him and said he had drugs concealed in him. When the matter was becoming controversial, I asked if there is a good screening centre here in Lagos.

“I was told of the University of Lagos teaching hospital and I asked that they should take him there. I did so to have an independent opinion from a professional. He was taken there and the Chief Radiologist said look, I have to get my Consultant. He and the Consultant examined, tested and screened him with their machines and gave me the report in writing.

“Our medical team collected the written report and brought to me. The hospital said in the report that Baba-Suwe had drugs concealed in his stomach. In the report, they said they analyzed him from the head, to the body and down to the legs and concluded that his stomach is invested with particles that are consistent with narcotics.

“But they said in the report that they cannot specify the drugs by name. They suggested that it could only be specified by laboratories. Mind you, I am not an expert in that field. I am only an officer of the NDLEA.

“If you were in my shoes will you release that man? I did not stop at that anyway, I insisted I wanted another report from another group of experts. I was told that there was another well-equipped place that they call Me-Cure here in Lagos. I said take him there also. I referred him there and they gave me the same result,” the NDLEA boss concluded.

The anti-drug agency has been ordered by the court to pay the sum of 25 million naira to Baba for violation of his rights. This order is being appealed at the Appeal Court.

I was studying Law at the Obafemi Awolowo University,(OAU),Ife.

I am of the 1995 set,but I had to leave school in 2001 because of pressures.People were too harsh on me;they did not understand me at all.
When I was in school,the school authorities got to know that I slept with my fellow male students.There was an incidence before when I had to be admitted in the hospital.I was bleeding from the anus and I had bad pile arising from sexual intercourse.

When the school got to know the kind of person I was,they sent me to a Guidance Counselor.Professor Roger Makanjuola,the current Vice Chancellor,who took care of me.You know he is renowned Psychiatrist. He handled all issues relating to psychiatry with me.

He said I was okay and that nothing was wrong with my preferences,sexual-wise.He said it was just because I lived in an environment that did not tolerate that kind of behavior.

He recommended me to another Guidance Counselor but I did not follow up.Even at that,there seems to be very little assistance one can get medically here.

This kind of phenomenon is not common and there are no experts vast in handling such issues here.

After a time,I tried going back to school but they told me I have stayed too long away from the system.I applied to change to UNILAG and OAU authorities promised to assist with my transcripts,but they did not send it early,that was how I lost the chance of changing to UNILAG.

The beautiful Actress Laide Bakare-Okufolire was involved in what could’ve been a very fatal auto accident.

We learnt Bakare was speeding when a nissan saloor car ,driving out of the police station rammed into her vehicle which led to collision.

Even though the two vehicles involved were badly damaged, no one sustained any injury in the crash.

We thank god she came out of the car alive.

Twitter Hacker Targets Flavour, D’Banj, Don Jazzy, Wizkid, Others

If last night’s threats are anything to go by, then celebrities using social networks like Twitter need to be very worried. Big names like D’banj, Banky W, Flavour, Wizkid and Don Jazzy came under attack yesterday, as hackers threatened to ‘expose you all’.
As if to show their seriousness, the hacker(s) took over Flavour’s official handle @flavournabania for several minutes, embarking on a tweeting spree and totally compromising the act’s account
What was the first thing Flavour’s attackers did? They immediately replaced his image a with random nude picture and changed his user name to ‘Hacked’. The handle @flavournabania was however not tampered with.
‘#Hacked #Hacked #Hacked’, the tweets read. ‘We’ve had access to this account for a while. We’ve had access to so many other celeb Twitter and Facebook accounts’, more tweets read.
The hackers say over 30 celebs accounts (Twitter and Facebook) have been hacked and that they will ‘expose’ them all.
‘oh @iamDbanj’s account was the easiest to get into. Dumb password. @Don Jazzyis next, @2faceidibia also…Banky W then @wizkidayo Must be hacked!!!! We’ll expose you all.’.

Flavour’s account has since been suspended; and Don Jazzy, an ardent Tweeter with over 200,000 followers became immediately concerned. ‘Kai if them hack my haccount hi go cry o. I dey beg o. i don delete halllllll my DM sha dey wait’, he tweeted.

N700M Homosexuality Suit: Asa Absent in Court

Nigerian singer Bukola Elemide, better known as Ásà was missing at a court hearing today, over a N700m lawsuit brought by her against a celebrity magazine.

Asa, in a suit ‘Bukola Elemide & Another VS Dockland Communications Services’, is suing News of the People over an article published in 2010 insinuating that she is a lesbian.

Dockland Communications Services are the publishers of the weekly publication News of the People.
The 29-year-old, who was represented by her legal counsel Abraham & CO. before a Lagos High Court presided over by Justice A.J Coker on Thursday, February 23, 2012, stated that the publication was defamatory, and prayed the court to award damages in the above-mentioned sum.

However, the judge was unable to make any ruling, as neither Asa nor her manager Janet Nwose were in court when the defendant’s counsel requested their presence for questioning. Reportedly, they are currently in France, which is Asa’s home base.

‘My lord, my client is indisposed; I plead for you to adjourn the case to a later date’, the claimants’, lawyer Mena Ajakpovi said.

The defendants’ counsel Yinka Muyiwa wasn’t happy with the plea, citing an earlier claim from the duo stating that they were actually performing at a gig in France. The judge however ruled for the case to be adjourned until April.

The saga began in 2010, when News of the People published an article stating that Asa was a lesbian, but, through their counsel, the publication says they have done no wrong, as they culled the story from an online publication.

However, despite repeated requests from us, they have failed to name the originators of the story.
The first hearing took place on November 22, 2010 at the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja Judicial Division.
‘The issue pertaining to she being a lesbian is already in the eye of the public’, Yinka Muyiwa told our source

 ‘And as a report coming from a publication on the internet, I do not see how they can establish a case of libel’.

Asa’s lawyer was not available to answer questions at the time of writing this report, but the law firm assured us we would get statements from them very soon.

Back in January 2010, Asa, in an interview with radio host Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi on Beat FM’s ‘Drive Time Show’, categorically stated she wasn’t gay; even though at that time she did not have a boyfriend. ‘I’m not gay we have to set it straight’, Asa said.
The court case has been adjourned to Thursday, April 26, 2012.

Following reports that rave rapper M.I Abaga had concluded plans to officially launch his record imprint, Loopy Records, rumours began flying that he had left Chocolate City record label.

However, the award winning rapper recently debunked the rumours through his handle on popular social networking site twitter.

‘Public Service Announcement: I am not leaving Chocolate City. I am very much a Choc Boy Still and will be for a very long time amen’, He stated.

Also Chocolate City label exec, Audu Maikori denying the reports in a statement to the media, had stated that the rumours are the handwork of idle people.

‘As far as I’m concerned MI is still with the label. It is just that people always want to find something to say whenever they are idle. MI was in my house last night (February 22, 2012). Maybe it’s because he has an agreement with us to sign some artiste that is why they are taking it the other way. We have no problem with him as far as I’m concerned.’

M.I, real name Jude Abaga, is regarded by many as the continent’s finest and most commercially successful rap artiste. He is signed to Chocolate City records which recently appointed Hakeem Bello-Osagie as its chairman. The label also has award winning artistes such as Ice Prince Zamani, Jesse Jagz, as well BrymO and newly signed female acts rapper Pryse and R&B singer Tonii under its stables.

If what is getting to Amebo news is anything to go by, then, all may presently not be well between Jude Abaga, who is better known as MI, and his Audu Maikori led record label, Chocolate City.

According to the gist making round, the self-acclaimed Africa's number one rapper is set to launch his own record label.

From what Amebo news  gathered, the short dark dude from Jos has concluded plans to launch his Loopy Record Label on Saturday, March 3, 2012, which we learnt is located around Gbagada area of Lagos State.

Unconfirmed reports said there is a strain between the once smooth working relationship between MI and Chocolate City Label boss, Audu.

Chocolate City has under its label Ice Prince; Jesse Jagz, who is the younger brother of MI; Brymo and MI. We could not confirm if other acts under Chocolate City would join Loopy Record having joined Chocolate City through MI.

Fresh Scam Scandal Hits Nollywood, Silverbird Cinemas Allegedly Involved

With what is getting to the desk of Amebo , the movie industry may be in for the biggest fraud case in its history.

According to information gathered by Amebo, Blessing Egbe, the producer of controversial movie, Two Brides And A Baby is crying foul over an alleged fraudulent act between Okhma Global Limited and Silverbird Cinemas, Abuja.

Blessing alleged Okhma Global Limited owned by Mary Ephraim, who handled the distribution of the film to cinemas, of conniving with Silverbird Cinemas to short-pay her of proceeds made from screening the movie at the cinemas.

Speaking to amebo, Blessing said that Mary confirmed to her that her movie had stopped showing at the cinemas on January 13, 2012 but she was surprised to learn that Silverbird Cinemas in Abuja still sold tickets for the said movie as at February 2, 2012.

She went further to say that she requested for hard drives containing the film be retrieved from the cinemas, which Mary confirmed to her by January to have been effected.

When Amebo crew contacted Mary on this allegation, she denied it but said that though Blessing wanted to stop showing the movie in December because of the percentage (30 per cent) that gets to her (Blessing) at that period was not okay by her, but she advised her to do otherwise

She went on to say that she has presented the right records to Blessing. As she told us, she wondered why Blessing is attacking the cinemas, who never had any dealing directly with her.

She also told Amebo  that she had earlier told Blessing to officially write her company of any wrong doing if noticed, which she claimed Blessing had not done.

When Blessing was asked to confirm this, she claimed to have written a letter to Mary through a lawyer which was never replied to even after acknowledging it.

For a young Nigerian film industry just re-embracing cinema culture, this may not be an encouraging situation to the industry.
