Seyi Law Set To Wed
Standup comedian, Aletile Idileoye Oluwaseyitan Lawrence popularly referred to as Seyi Law is on the verge of tying the knot with his long time partner.
After receiving the Comedian of the year award at the Future Awards ceremony held yesterday at the Landmark Events Center, Seyi dedicated the award to his fiancée.
‘I thank God for this award and also dedicate it to my fiancee whom I’ll be getting married to in March, 2011. When I met her, she said she loved my confidence and this had helped me all through my career’, an excited Seyi said.
The award winning comedian rose to fame after winning the first edition of renowned comedian, AY’s ‘Open Mic Comedy‘ and has remained a recognized comedian over the years.
IKECHUKWU'S FIANCEE, SARAH OFILI ADDRESSED IKECHUKWU AND D'BANJ'S BREAK UP
Several rumours trailed Rapper, Ikechukwu and mo'hits break up. And no word has been heard from the two parties concerning the reason for the break up. And rumours have been flying like wild fire that dbanj(mo'hits member) has been dating ikechukwu's fiancee, sarah ofili, which sparked dispute between killz and dbanj leading to the break up. The model, sarah ofili recently addressed the rumour in an interview. This was her response
“Over my dead body will D’banj sleep with me, that’s just gross. Have you seen my man Killz? I have enough six packs; I don’t need two and half. I live in London and not Ikeja. We have never been friends let alone lovers. If he (D’banj) has problems with my man he should take it up with him like a man and leave my name out of this market crap. How come he has not responded that this rumour is a lie?
Because it is feeding his ego, but when they said Ike beat him up, his team quickly tweeted that it’s a lie but now that a woman is involved they don’t want to clear names. It’s disgusting Nigerian men quickly turn to women to do their dirty work, they can’t stand the heat so all the blame is put on a woman. I will not tolerate my name and image being toyed with, if anyone carries this dirty rumour further without proof they will face the consequences. This is libelous. What a disgusting defamation of my character!”
Genevieve Nnaji, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal in cold war
Genevieve Nnaji and Kate Henshaw-Nuttal rank
among Nigeria ’s finest actresses. Both are
celebrities and turn heads wherever they go. By
virtue of their successful acting careers and
pleasant personalities, no one expected the mild
drama that played out at the formal opening of
Ndidi Obioha ’s bridal shop. Save for keen observers, no one would have noticed their less
than cordial relationship, which was brought to
the fore last week.
Obioha, a reputable event planner, had invited
the crème of the society to witness the launch of
her latest business venture. These two actresses
made the guest list and honoured the host with
their presence.
Henshaw-Nuttal, who arrived earlier than Nnaji,
enlivened the arena with her presence. Full of
smiles, she chatted animatedly with other guests
and her infectious warmth spread around.
All of these ceased when Nnaji walked into the
venue. Not only did Henshaw-Nuttal ’s
countenance change, the actresses did not say
hello to each other. The pair carried on as if the
other did not exist. Subsequently, Henshaw-
Nuttal left the venue of the party straight-faced.

After a successive debut, Naeto C will try to re-attain the critical acclaim he accomplished with his debut, ‘YOU KNOW MY P’.

Guest appearances include Omawumi, Dagrin, YQ, Terry G, Sossick, Dokta Frabz, Waje and Asa.
Star actress, Stella Damasus is in a fresh romance with Mofe Duncan
This is less than a year after her short lived marriage to Emeka Nzeribe hit the rocks.
Her latest care giver is identified as Mofe Duncan.
He is listed as a man about town based in Abuja.
He is further tagged as into the world of production (the organisation and supervision of the making of movie, broadcast or recording…), with a sister as an Anchor person in a radio station.
Stella and Duncan are said to be very careful about making noise about the relationship.
Despite this, insiders claim they have attended a couple of events under the pretext of being just friends.
The most popular of these occasions is identified as the celebrated wedding of Olumide Akande and Dakore Egbuson.
Both Mofe and Stella reportedly arrived and left the reception held at K.F.A Events centre, Lekki Lagos together.
Whether this latest romance would lead to the Alta is not sure yet.
Those close to Stella however claim the actress does not appear to be in a hurry to rush into matrimony again.
Friends maintain her short lived matrimony with Nzeribe- after a brief courtship is responsible for her new stance about marriage.
Though it’s not clear what really led to break up of the marriage- insiders cite lack of proper knowledge of each other’s way as the origin.
Stella Damasus is the widow of late entertainment figure and friend of many, Jaiye Aboderin. She surprised many by remarrying four years after a couple of rumoured romances after her husband’s death.
Shockingly the marriage barely lasted months and now she is said to be back again in love with Mofe Duncan. Stella has two children, Isabella and Agelica (both from her marriage to Jaiye).
Reacting to the development via text message, the popular actress maintained 'it is a free world'
However in the message that has a hint of anger, she wondered why it is only her romances and not other achievements that are usually celebrated.

Inspiration FM GM Quits
Popular On-air personality and CEO of M54, Wale Ewedemi has apparently quit his job at 92.3 Inspiration FM.
Wale who was the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer at the radio station before his resignation was a pioneer staff and one of the brains behind the radio station’s success.
The 2008 British Council Music Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner tells us he’ll be venturing other projects as he feels his work there has been done.
A Graduate of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ewedemi earlier worked at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and at Cool FM where he was the General Manager for the Abuja Station.
There are speculations his departure from the station is premature, and that he may have been asked to quit, but we cannot confirm this at this time.

Ruma donated kidney toYar ’Adua, says Wikileaks
THE late President Umaru Yar’Adua did a kidney
transplant in 2002 as governor of Katsina State,
but avoided another one as president for fears
causing unrest, according to diplomatic cables
released by WikiLeaks.
The cables claimed former Minister of Agriculture
and Water Resources Sayyadi Abba Ruma
donated his kidney for the transplant.
The cables suggested Nigeria’s top power brokers
in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) knew about
Yar ’Adua’s condition, but still propped him up to
become the presidential candidate in 2007.
Aides to the president stuffed his clothes to hide
his weight loss and used makeup to hide his
pallor, the cables claim, but his illness ultimately
led to a long absence from that fuelled public
discontent.
Yar’Adua died last May, propelling Vice-President
Goodluck Jonathan into the presidency. Jonathan
recently became the ruling party ’s presidential
candidate for the coming April election.
"What is clear is that the president’s health is a
matter of growing concern, particularly on the
minds of the northern elite," a diplomatic cable
from February 2009 reads. "We have noted a
considerable uptick in what appears to be behind-
the-scenes machinations and back-room dealing."
WikiLeaks publicly released the cables late
Saturday night. A spokesman at the United
States (US) Embassy in Abuja, said officials would
have no comment on anything released by the
website.
A diplomatic cable from June 2008
claimedYar ’Adua first began experiencing renal
failure in 1999, shortly after he became governor.
The cable said German company Julius Berger,
one of the dominant road construction firms in
Nigeria, set up a dialysis clinic in Yar ’Adua’s
home. The firm later flew German experts in and
out of Nigeria to privately treat Yar ’Adua, the
cables claimed.
The discolorations long noticed on Yar’Adua’s
face, fuelling rumours about his ill health, came
from the steroids doctors gave him to help his
body accept the transplant, according to the
cables.
Ruma denied the cable claim, calling WikiLeaks a
"witch-hunting device" and "a strategy for
blackmail."
"It never happened," Ruma told The Associated
Press last night. "It ’s not true. It’s malicious. It’s
mischievous.

Word had it that the old general was about to sue
the rapper for copyright and the rapper went in

how the meeting went and he delighted me with
what transpired..

Since he is an elderly man I decided to go with a

So we young boys won't just be talking to him.I

The general was in the living room with a

The general said he was happy we came, that

D’Banj, Don Jazzy Move IntoLekki Mansion
Mo’Hits head honchos D’Banj and Don Jazzy
have moved out of the ‘Mo’hits Mansion’ in
Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos, into a new property
around Lekki Phase 1 also in Lagos.
Amebo sources say that the pair moved into the
Lekki property late last year, leaving junior crew
members Wande Coal and D’Prince behind in
their Maryland residence.
Friends, partners and collaborators, Dbanj and
Don Jazzy have been inseparable since they met
at JJC’s Backbone music many years back.
With fortune smiling on them by the day, the
music stars have solidified their relationship,
looking out for one another and building one of
the most successful record labels of this time.
Although we are yet to confirm, our informants
are saying they bought the Lekki property – and
that it is every inch befitting of their celebrity
status, compared to the Maryland apartment,

Robbers Blow Up Bank Vault With Dynamite; Hotelier, Soldier Killed-PM News
By Cyriacus Izuekwe
The bank's ATM machine that ws destroyed by the robbers this morning along Ayobo, Ipaja, Lagos
A gang of robbers in the early hours of today invaded a new generation bank in Ayobo area of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area, LCDA of Lagos State, South West, Nigeria.
A police source informed P.M.NEWS that the robbers were armed with dynamite and other sophisticated weapons. They arrived the bank at about 1.30 a.m. and blew up the vault of the bank during the operation which lasted for about three hours.
They also broke the bank’s automated teller machine, ATM, and carted away an unspecified sum of money.
Residents of the area, who witnessed the robbery attack, said it was as if there was war as the robbers were shooting throughout the period the robbery operation lasted.
The police were said to be helpless because of the sophisticated weapons the robbers used.
An eyewitness claimed that the robbers came in through the Ayetero-Ijele, Ogun State boundary and escaped through the same route after their successful operation.
The Area Commander of Area “G” Police Command, Mr. Mobolaji Odesanya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, visited the scene of the crime this morning.
He promised that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo will also visit the scene very soon.
Mr. Odesanya also added that investigation into the incident has commenced.
In another incident, an army sergeant and a hotelier identified as Mr. Ogu, were yesterday night killed by armed robbers near a fast food restaurant along Morocco-Bajulaiye Road, in Somolu, Lagos State.
Mr. Ogu was said to be in his car with two other occupants when he ran into the robbers and was shot.
An eyewitness told P.M.NEWS that the sergeant, who was a guard nearby, was attracted to the scene by gunshots but he was also shot by the robbers before he could do anything.
A source at the scene said the robbers, who were about 10, were attacking a popular beer parlour in the area when the car rammed into them.
As at the time of filing this report, Ogu’s car with registration number AT 988 AGL, with blood stains all over and perforated by bullets, had been removed from the scene to Alade Division of the Nigeria Police, Somolu. The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of the station declined comment.
He referred P.M.NEWS to the state police command, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Frank Mba for further enquiry.

Omawumi Expects Baby No. 1
It started as hearsays and whispers. But, we can now confirm what many have been trying to know: one of our favourite singer-performers, Omawumi Megbele is pregnant and expecting her first baby.
The West Africa Idols finalist, who has refused to comment on pregnancy rumours that had been circulating for days, stepped out on Wednesday, to do a set of radio rounds, before hitting Tribeca, later in the evening, to deliver an amazing performance at Industry Nite.
Sources that spotted her at Rhythm FM could not hide their shock, ‘She’s very heavy; maybe about three to four months gone. Her tummy is giving her away already’, one informant told us.
At Tribeca, she kicked off her performance seated; with her baby bump glaring for all to see. And when she stood up to rock, her signature mini-gown did little to hide the fact that she’s in the first trimester of her pregnancy…
Omawumi has not denied out rightly, the pregnancy tales chasing her around. But she has also not publicly admitted that she indeed is planning to become a mother. But those close to her tell us she has confided in them.
And who’s responsible? No one can say for sure yet. While some fingers are pointing the way of her ex Dokta Frabz, a producer with whom she still enjoys a robust relationship; others say ‘the only man that can put Omawumi in the family way’, is a yet-to-be-named part owner of Lagos club Zamunda.
Repeated efforts to get the singer to comment have proved abortive.
With her second album on the way (a lead single ‘If you ask me’ was only recently released), it would appear all Omawumi would have on her mind right now are songs and lyrics and beats. But, the amazingly gifted entertainer will be willing to add more, in the coming weeks – as she combines ante-natal sessions with a recording schedule that promises to be hectic.
We’re still working to unveil the identity of the man responsible for this blessing. And when we do find him it’ll be nice to know: Is marriage on the cards?
Meanwhile, the glaring bump notwithstanding, Miss Megbele still delivered a great performance at the INDUSTRY NITE held at the Tribeca night club on Wednesday, January 19, 2011.
Her back-up singers and instrumentalists joined her to thrill guests including her mum, Omoni Oboli, Olisa Adibua, Waje, Timi Dakolo, Evelyn Ibru, Dj Jimmy Jatt, Zara, Dj Zeez among others to an evening of music and dance and groove.
The award winning songstress performed songs from her previous and forth coming albums including Enough is Enough, When breeze blow, Chocolata, In the Music, and her emotional single ‘If you ask me’, with everyone including her mum paying rapt attention and hanging on to her every line.
Lead City Varsity: NUC Takes Final Decision Today on Withdrawal Of Licence ...
AS the two weeks ultimatum given to the management of the Lead City University, Ibadan to close down its Law Faculty and School of Postgraduate Studies or lose its operational licence, expired today, the National Universities Commission (NUC) is to decide the fate of the institution.
NUC had claimed that the two schools were being run illegally by the university management without due approval and ordered them to be closed down.
The Director, Academic Standards at NUC, Professor Alhassan Bichi, who briefed newsmen in Abuja, on the development, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the commission, Professor Julius Okojie, had said that if within two weeks the two schools in the university were not closed down, the commission would use its sledge hammer on the institution.
He said that the commission had to resort to sanctioning the institution after all efforts to prevail on the school management to shut down the two programmes proved abortive.
The commission equally declared as illegal, certificates acquired by students from the two programmes and would not be recognized for the purpose of employment or further studies.
However, Professor Okojie, who declined comment on the imbroglio on Thursday, when the Nigerian Tribune was at the commission, said he would make public the position of the NUC today.
He said he would not want to pre-empt anything until the expiration of the ultimatum, which is today.
Effort to speak with the Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, also was unsuccessful.
When the Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations, in the Federal Ministry of Education, Mr Peter Obediegwu was called on his mobile phone he said: We are not in town and the Minister is expected back later today”.

Kinsley – KC Presh and Ebube Nwagbo back as Friends
Kingsley of KC Presh was once in a relationship with actress Ebube Nwagbo and they went absolute show offs – as they (particularly her) told every one who cared to listen about their (now lost) love for each other.
It seemed Kingsley had dumped Ebube in August 2009 and tied the knot with an undergraduate, Cynthia Oduah in April, last year. She reportedly was ashame of her ex boyfriend marital status and she stayed off the social scene.
For a while, they were never seen together but we are informed that they are back to been friends and that was just around when Kingsley lost his dad. Ebube attended Kingsley late father’s burial ceremony far away in Anambra.
Ebube says she is in a new relationship and her new boyfriend is said to have bought her the new Hummer jeep she drives around town

Paul Play back on sick bed?
Has Paul Play’s health relapsed? Is he back on sick bed? These were the questions that agitated the minds of his fans and followers of happenings in the industry early this week when a slip on twitter by singer, Lanre Fasasi aka Sound Sultan, opened a floodgate of enquiries as to his well being. The artiste had tweeted, “I pray for you Paul Play, we must judge together this season, waiting on your return. God strengthen you. Get strong fast.”
This was preceded by controversial rapper, Ruggedman’s tweet: “Please join me in praying for my friend, brother and colleague, Paul Play, to get well soon and come back home to us from South Africa. He went for surgery.” Curiously, a few minutes later, the tweet disappeared from Ruggedman’s timeline only to appear by those who had saved it as having been posted on August 1st 2009. This abracadabra was explained away by Sound Sultan who claimed that his earlier tweet was as a result of the rapper’s which he discovered was posted at the time of Paul’s illness. Interestingly, as at Wednesday afternoon, Ruggedman had over 26, 300 tweets. Why would he retweet a post of August 2009, just a few days after he joined twitter? Who is fooling who?
The scion of late juju maestro and Member of the British Empire, Sir IK Dairo, Paul’s illness began in 2009. According to him, “I was in South Africa to shoot a video when I noticed I was getting weak and tired, so I checked into a hospital and was diagnosed with tumour of the kidney.” An unabashed teetotaler, the news of Paul’s illness sent shock waves round the industry. He would later claim in media interviews that it took interventions from a pastor before his health was fully restored. Since then, however, the singer-songwriter-producer who was one of the pioneer hit makers in Nigeria’s contemporary music industry had maintained low profile, hardly appearing at industry events or performing at concerts. Meanwhile, E-Punch’s several efforts to reach The Angel of My Life crooner were futile. His two mobile phone numbers were switched off, and a check at the church where he claimed to have received healing yielded nothing, lending credence to the fact that he might have been flown back to the South Africa.
Nobody gave me N50m as compensation ... I Go Dye
Francis Agoda, the comedian fondly called I Go Dye is understandably peeved at the moment. After being assaulted by military men at a political rally organised by the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, at the Warri township stadium on January 4, the comedian had demanded a public apology from his assailants, the state government and the campaign team of Uduaghan which contracted him to perform but allegedly failed to provide security for he and his colleagues.
Speaking to E-Punch after his ordeal, I Go Dye confessed that but for the fact that he is a peace ambassador in the Niger Delta, it would have taken him absolutely nothing to instigate the teeming youths at the stadium against his assailants. “But I chose to toe the path of peace. I am a peace ambassador and should not be found to be inciting violence whatever the case maybe,” he said.
Early this week, rumour made the rounds that the multiple awards winning comedian had been compensated to the tune of N50m by a political stalwart in the state. Repulsed and shocked at the groundswell of the news, I Go Dye, in a chat with E-Punch says, “I don’t know where this came from. Nobody gave me N50m. I am not in need of money from anybody, all I demand is public apology from the authorities, including the Nigerian Army, the Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and his campaign team who failed to protect me after inviting me to the occasion. I am giving them two weeks after which I would instruct my lawyers to take legal action.”
He disclosed that he is being forced to take a legal action at this juncture because in recent time, the military has been carrying on as if they were at war with harmless Niger Delta indigenes in the name of searching for militants. He says, “The Nigeria Army has been attacking innocent villages in the Niger Delta. For instance, Gbaramatu and Ayakoroma communities have been attacked lately, but I am amazed they could come out in the open to attack me for no just cause.”
How I stepped into Nollywood –Tonto Dike
Nollywood’s rising star, Tonto Dike hails from Ikwere, Port Harcourt, in Rivers State. She was born on June 9, 1985 and after her primary and secondary education, she was admitted into Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, and currently studying Petro-Chemical Engineering.
Growing up
Growing up was wonderful because I had everything I wanted and wasn’t deprived of anything. My father was wealthy, so he did everything possible for me. I went to the best schools in my state, I graduated with good results from my primary and secondary schools and I hope to graduate with the best result after my degree programme. I have had parental love, care, family ties while growing up.
It’s been love all the way the only thing I didn’t appreciate while growing up was the fact that I could not mix with my peer group, which is why I can’t speak my dialect up till now. Another was growing up without my mother. She died when I was just three years old, so I practically didn’t know her, but it was a joy to know that I had someone who I could say replaced her.
My journey into Nollywood
I got into the industry after I left the reality T.V show The next movie star in 2005, I was first runner-up, when Kingsley Ogboso won, and from there, I started looking for contacts and fortunately for me, a lot of people saw my talent, I got involved in the reality show first because I saw it as a way of getting close to the industry, I had hoped that from it I would move into the industry and it happened as I wanted.
Challenges
Sincerely, I don’t think I have had to go through any challenge. This is because I don’t see them as challenges; I am a very prayerful person. I believe so much in God and it seems like everything just falls at my feet. Anything I want just falls at my feet. I can’t say I have had to go through challenges since I got into the industry.
Big break
Perhaps, I should say my first movie, but that was released last year so I will say my second movie, entitled, Holy Cross which I did with Nonso Diobi, Uncle Pete Edochie and Jim Iyke, after seeing the film, the producers and directors wanted to use me in their own films, Right from my second movie people started to look out for me.
Nollywood
I see the industry as a fruitful one, which can yield more fruits in the future. All we need is hard work, perseverance and prayer. The industry is like a newborn baby that has to be nurtured and well taken care of. I still think that we really need to work hard because we are way backward. Though we may be doing well, I still think we can do better.
Relationship
I am in one, which I am very proud of. He is okay for me. I took what God gave me, and remember, I said God gives me anything that I desire. As for how he feels when I am on set with all the kissing and hugging, I’ll tell you something: When I say that I took what God gave me, I meant that He gave me a package in a man, all I want in life He gave to me in one person.
May man gives me endurance, patience, love and he is someone who understands. He really understands, so I don’t have a problem with my handling of roles. He might not be okay with the roles all the while, but he still prays for me and hopes for a better future for me because he knows I love my job.
Playing music with Patience Ozorkwor
First of all, the music is owned by Amaco Investments; Charles, Patience and I were just called to mime it. I had fun being in the video and I didn’t know it was going to be this big as everybody is talking about it. I have no plans whatsoever to get into music.
First day on set
I was very scared. I was shy. I didn’t know what to think or expect until the lights came on, then I knew that this was serious business. But I had people like Uncle Pete Edochie, Nonso Diobi, Desmond Elliot, Nkiru Sylvanus, and Uncle Larry Coldsweat. They kept saying ‘you can do it’ and I did it.
What you can’t wear
I will not be caught in a long skirt because I hate it. I also can’t wear Iro and Buba, it’s fashion for the older women. I am still very young and I need to feel free in my body you can’t catch me being very religious in my dressing, I love to dress the way I love to dress.
Sexy part of me
I give that to my lips. I love them and people have told me that they love them too, talking about what people don’t know about me, a lot of people don’t know that I am very nice, a wonderful and serious minded person.
Coping with school and acting
I am in my final year now, and this year, I have decided that I must spend almost all of it in school doing school work. Though I will still be on set, I hope to be in school more. I will work it out, I don’t have a plan yet, but I will be able to be in school more often than I used to.
Philosophy of life
I have a lot of them but I will share one, if you have your eyes on something, on a particular level in life when you get to that level, always know that there are so many other levels left to climb. Try to be on top, even when you are on top, try to be on top of the top.
Artiste admired
Back home, I only admire two females - Aunty Joke Sylvia and Rita Dominic. Why Rita? It’s because when I want to recount how my interest in the movies started, her name will be mentioned as she inspired me a lot. And for Aunty Joke, she is a wonderful person, she is joy to me, I watch her and I feel alive and want to do more than she has done, Internationally I love Al Paccino and Julia Roberts, they are inspiration to me.
In five years
I really have faith and hope that I will be better than I am now. I am not striving to end in Nollywood, I intend to get into Hollywood, I don’t know how I will do that but I know that God will make a way for me.
A word to fans
I say thank to all, I really appreciate their love by buying my movies, watching them and appreciating me. I wake up each day knowing that without my fans in my life, there would be no full Tonto. I love them all.

WITCH FLEW FROM CALABAR TO LAGOS
Residents of Gowon
Estate area of Lagos woke early Tuesday to the startling discovery of a
young lady on the roof of a three-story building.
The lady, who
refused to give her name, claimed she was a witch on a mission. She
further revealed that she flew from Obubra in Cross River State, to
afflict her victim with epilepsy in Lagos. However, her supposed
mission was not accomplished because, according to her, on reaching 4
Iwajuwa Street, dogs in the area started barking, resulting in her
losing her balance in the air. The loud bang on the roof of the
three-story building was said to have jolted the tenants from sleep at
about 3am.
Occupants of the
building, who said they mistook the sound as an explosion, could,
however, not come out to ascertain the cause of the sound until 5am,
when they reportedly heard a strange noise from the top of the
building. The unidentified lady was thereafter brought down where she
reportedly revealed her mission, following which an angry mob descended
on her.
She later turned violent, throwing stones and dangerous objects. At
this stage, the onlookers took to their heels, with mothers calling out
to their children to leave the scene. But some brave young men were
able to disarm her and were at the verge of lynching her when police
officers from Gowon Estate arrived and took her away.
Omawumi Pregnant For Lagos Night Club Owner?
Reports broke out last week that Omawumi is pregnant and the singer aware of the reports going round has refused to make a statement – confirming or denying it.
Reports are based on her recent rather awkward and less bubbling persona. She is reported to have thrown out (vomit) at two separate events. Reports which are obviously unconfirmed say she is pregnant for Night club owner who she has been with for about two years – who she ‘properly broke up with Dr. Frabs for’, another source tells us.
He is said to have gone all the way and has taken her to his family and introducing her as his fiance. Omawumi and her management would rather talk about her music when a reporter contacted them.
COUPL’d UP: DJ Zeez and Top Model Mercy Itamah.
DJ Zeez’s not single neither is he searching. We hear she is the model on the billboards of Tetmosol family, MTN and Intercontinental Bank. Mercy Itamah also worked with Smooth Promotions in the past. The lovebirds have kept the affair under wraps, spending quality time in indoors and private locations.
DJ Zeez took her on a surprise trip to Dubai on his birthday, traveled via Emirates airline. They met in February 2010, exchanged number and kept in touch. Coincidentally, the situation from their previous relationships became unbearable. In May 2010, they were officially an item, six months after They were spotted kissing and holding hands. A marriage might be in the equation before the year runs out.

CULT CLASH IN BENIN
Not less than five persons have been reportedly
killed at the weekend while several others were
seriously injured in a bloody clash in three
different locations between two rival cult groups,
the Eiye and Black Axe in Benin, the Edo State.
We gathered that the victims were killed
during a quarrel, as one of the groups was
sharing money allegedly given to them by
politicians during the conduct of primaries by one
of the political parties in the state. It was learnt
that two men riding on a motorcycle, suspected
to be members of the Eiye confraternity shot a
member of a rival Black Axe cult group whose
name was identified as Tony Idemudia at Uwelu,
near Ogida area of the city. As soon as this
happened, the Black Axe members were said to
have stormed the Texiles Mill Road area
apparently on a reprisal mission and swooped on
two rival members killing them in the process.
Not satisfied, members of the Black Axe
confraternity were said to have retreated and
launched another attack on their opponents at
the Second East Circular junction also in the state
capital, where they shot two persons to death.
One of the victims of the onslaught was identified
as Osas. The bloody scenes had left the residents
of the affected areas scampering for safety.
However, Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr.
David Omojola said nine persons had been
arrested in connection with the incident. He
attributed the killings to rival cult gangs and
promised that those involved in the killings would
be prosecuted, adding that investigations were
on to unravel the circumstances surrounding the
clash. The corpses of the cult members have
been taken to the morgue of the Central Hospital,
Benin by policemen from the state command

D’Banj, Snoop Dogg Shoot ‘Mr. Endowed’ Remix Video
It almost seemed like another joke when Dbanj (Dapo Oyebanjo) announced his collaboration with veteran US rapper Snoop Dogg on ‘Mr Endowed’ remix – seeing that many acts before him had made such claims without any evidence to show for it – From Eedris Abdulkareem announcing a purported collabo with Busta Rhymes and Rita Marley, to Psquare’s failed attempt at securing a duet with Busta; Twin-X’s never-seen-never-heard ‘recording with Lil’ Wayne and even Freestyle’s unimpressive T-Pian lie; fans had become skeptical; taking such news of international joints with less than a pinch of salt.
But, those close to the Mohits camp insisted a collabo had indeed happened, and that the cut would be released in a matter of time. Dates were announced; without the song surfacing – Could this be another trick? Another attempt to fool the fans?
Then, Alas! The cloud of uncertainty covering the collaboration got clearer during the Mo’hits’ Koko concert held on Friday, December 24 2010 where the song (Mr Endowed remix featuring Snoop Dogg) was played. Yes. It was played. But how real was the Dogg Father’s cut on the track? Could it have been doctored? – Critics started asking questions but never got answers.
Now there may no longer be any reasons to doubt Mr Oyebanjo or the Mo’Hits crew, and no one needs any further answers than what the hit-maker is about to bring to our TV screens anytime soon. As many fans are already aware, Dbanj and Don Jazzy have reportedly begun the video shoot in Los Angeles, California with Snoop making a conspicuous appearance in the video.
From the video set, Don Jazzy tweeted:
‘Ok gotta prepare for landing. Chat wiv u guys later. Love always. IDJ’
‘so im in LA and its straight to work. Thanks for the prayers o. catch u guys later.’
‘Video shoot is going fine. we thank God. Uncle snoop people don dey come small small. wen u re big u re big. Chaiii’
‘baba order for special brand of chicken sha. hmmm’
‘Now the anticipation is double, as fans, friends and critics await the acclaimed ‘Mr Endowed’ remix video.’

Bouncing Back From A Bad Interview
Nobody is perfect. Nobody lives a perfect life or always has a perfect day. And it is absolutely possible that one of those not-so- perfect days may happen to coincide with the day of a job interview.
Even though we do not like to admit it, we sometimes perform poorly during job interviews. The easiest thing to do is pout, sulk, complain, and whine, but those things don’t really help your job hunt. What is worse, a bad reaction to a sub-par interview, may carry over into future interviews, and make your job hunt much more difficult. Instead, you can make the most of the situation, by recovering quickly. These tips should help you get on your way.
Mind Your Manners
One of the worst things you could possibly do after a bad interview is chock the whole thing up as a loss and not follow standard post- interview procedures.
There are too many factors you cannot foresee:
Often times, a bad interview in your mind wasn’t that bad in reality. For all you know, it might be the best one your interviewer has had in a long time.
You cannot read the mind of you interviewer, you cannot be absolutely certain about what the interviewer is looking for, and you cannot be absolutely certain about the impression you make. So, you cannot assume you have slim chances.
Not getting selected for one particular position does not rule you out of the running for future possible positions.
One interview may not be your last interaction with a company or an interviewer. So make the best possible impression. Be sure to:
Be courteous and maintain composure as you leave the interview
Send a thank you letter, note, email, or other form of correspondence.
Make a List
Even the worst of the worst interviews can still have some value. To really benefit from the interview-gone-bad, try the following:
As soon as you get out of an interview you would classify as "bad", create a list of every aspect of the interview that made it "bad". Spend as much time as you need on the list so that you can capture every problem; but make sure you create the list right after the interview, so everything is fresh in your mind.
Next, create a list of every possible solution to the problems you just listed. This should be an ongoing process.
Continue adding to your problems list. New interviews might reveal new problems. Over time, you will come up with solutions to those problems as well.
Continue adding to your solutions list. Ideas can come to you at anytime and you may happen to come up with better
solutions to problems you already solved.
Check It Twice
The use of lists really helps you to recognize problems and figure out solutions to them. To truly get the most out of them, however, the lists need to be used as constant reminders.
Post your lists on a wall, the refrigerator door, or a mirror. Put the lists in a spot where you will see them regularly. Let them serve as a constant reminder of your ongoing self-improvement.
Study your lists in between and especially right before interviews. Your lists should be as important as any background research you do on a company. The test of how much you learn is your next interview.
Take your lists with you to an interview. Immediately after the interview, examine your lists. Note problems that reoccurred, problems you overcame, solutions that occurred, solutions that did not work, and any new problems that emerged. Your lists should be ever changing.
CONCLUSION
You will not always have the interview of a lifetime. But you will find that the more effort you put into learning from interviews, the fewer interviews you will need before you find a job.
Is New Nigerian Music In Search Of A Critic?
New generation acts; Wande Coal, M.I, Banky W, eLDee, Dr. Sid & Sound Sultan
Let us begin by quickly getting the obvious facts out of the way: at no other time has new Nigerian music enjoyed as much continental and global acclaim as it currently does. It has never been this easy to become a star in Nigeria. Today, with a few, largely affordable digital equipment, a catchy hook and radio time, almost anybody can achieve relative fame in no time. While continental acceptance is not exactly new to Nigerian music, the dominance of Nigerian artistes at continental awards tells a delightful story of growth and development. Beyond fame and fortune, new Nigerian music has thrown up an industry of producers, managers, PR consultants, stylists, event planners, brand managers, blogs, websites, magazines, reviewers and much more. Today, multi-nationals handout awe-inspiring brand ambassador contracts to Nigerian artistes, young Nigerian have found unprecedented fame and fortune through music, so much so that if the music content of your event or party is not about 80% Nigerian, you may as well close shop. On a collective scale, it has never been this good.
New Nigerian music is not homogeneous and I have simply used it as a convenient term to distinguish from Juju, Fuji and other musical forms that also continue to enjoy wide acceptance at the moment. By new Nigerian music I am referring to forms like rap, hip hop, alternative music and rock, soul, R&B etc. I also acknowledge that technically these forms are not ‘new’, as they didn’t start yesterday, but they are ‘new’ in that they as distinct from our indigenous music forms.
While the celebration of this phenomenon has been great, the corresponding critical evaluation has been seriously deficient. Every single time I have heard artistes say something in the line of “All you haters criticising my music, do your own and let’s see or go hug a transformer!” I have felt as if someone defecated in potty and slammed it on the artiste’s head and the artiste went about thinking he was wearing a hat. How can you ask not to be criticised? I suspect that the problem lies with our understanding of criticism. We generally take criticism to mean condemnation rather than evaluation. To ask not to be criticised is to ask not to be evaluated, not to be assessed and I doubt if that’s the true desire of any artiste.
Truth be told, we are not a nation with a lot of tolerance for criticism. One of the country’s top arts writer and newspaper editor once told me of how he was slapped by the nation’s leading dramatist for daring to write an unfavourable critique of his play. Yes, a slap. Politicians do not fare better. Our national history is filled with detentions, imprisonments, harassments, torture and assassinations, all resulting from our leaders’ inability to live with critical evaluations that do not favour them. We shouldn’t be too surprised then that today most artistes are quick to label every dissenting voice a ‘hater’, someone who isn’t happy about their new found success, someone whose sole purpose in life is to bring them down.
However, if we say that most Nigerian artistes have a disdain for criticism, may we also say that the Nigerian media has failed in creating what can be called a true critical tradition? If you threw a stone into blogosphere today, you are likely to hit a Nigerian music reviewer on the head. Blogs, websites and social-networking sites are replete with Nigerian music reviewers who pontificate on Nigerian music daily. But, can we truly call anyone of them a worthy critic? Has anyone committed time and resources to studying music and music trends? Has anyone invested enough time and resources in this study for us to be able to accord respect to his/her opinions? Nigerian newspapers haven’t fared better. Journalists who write about the entertainment industry have been too busy glorifying the industry and acting as paid agents of PR outfits. Their reviews, at best, do not read better than personal paid announcements for artistes. I do not know of one journalist working in any Nigerian newspaper who is solely dedicated to interrogating Nigerian music, outside Benson Idonije of The Guardian. While Uncle Ben pays little or no attention to new Nigerian music, probably because it doesn’t pander to his music tastes, no one else in any Nigerian media pays worthy attention to Nigerian music as he has done for decades now. Surely it must be a shame that an old man in his 70s is the only worthy music critic a nation can point to! This is what you get when journalists run PR outfits on the side and padi-padi criticism is the order of the day.
Let us move beyond these challenges and for a minute dream of the flourishing of a critical tradition in Nigerian music; what should that tradition look like? Truth be told, I do not know. How does one pontificate on something so subjective? However, I do hope that we will not fall into the egocentric trap of prescriptive criticism, where a critic gets drunk on his own sense of importance and begins to prescribe to his audience what music to listen to, what music to buy and which to stay away from, or how this artiste is better than that one. I strongly believe that this isn’t the critic’s job: the critic should evaluate each work on its own strength or lack of and then leave the final choice to the audience. Criticism is a subjective field and in the final analysis, the audience is the final critic as their patronage or otherwise is the true test of an artiste’s strength.
Artistes are generally emotional people and their works are their babies that must not be harmed. This is understandable, especially as it is from the same emotional curve that great works are brought forth. However, asking your PR people, groupies and their grandmothers to scream down every dissenting voice on Twitter in a hailstorm of ‘hater!!!’ isn’t going to get you anywhere. Granted, there are attention-seeking people who will say nasty things about your work to satisfy their warped sense of importance (and this qualifies as ‘hating’ in my book), yet, there are many more who just sincerely feel that the job was not well done and they should have the right to say so. To lump all unfavourable criticism together and label as ‘hating’ is to be blind to possibilities that lie in self re-examination brought about by honest criticism.
There is a lot to be happy about concerning new Nigerian music. The possibilities are huge and even with all the success achieved thus far, I believe that we have barely scratched the surface. If these possibilities are to be achieved, a corresponding critical tradition must evolve; one that talks to the industry with due respect while not shying away from telling truth that may hurt. Let us not forget that ten years ago, if you raced on a street in Lagos, you most-likely will run into a Nollywood movie crew; today Nollywood is comatose. It certainly will be foolish to think it cannot happen to new Nigerian music.
Kidnappers free Mr. Ibu’s wife, child
Succour finally came the way of embattled Nollywood star actor, John Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu, on Thursday night when kidnappers freed his wife and one-year-old son after nine days in captivity.
While breaking the good news to Saturday Sun, elated Ibu, disclosed that his wife and son were released by their abductors without any harm.
On whether ransom was paid to the kidnappers, who first demanded N50 million, before reducing it to N6 million, some days later, Ibu said that was immaterial.
“What I can happily tell you is that my loving wife and lovely one-year-old son were released to me on Thursday night safe and alive. They are out quite all right, but the condition I met them was very appalling and pathetic. They looked like real prisoners… Asking me whether a ransom was paid at this time is what I cannot answer. But at the appropriate time, I will give you the full details of what transpired. I want to thank you and The Sun for all your efforts.”|
When asked to comment on the role Enugu State government played in their release, Ibu categorically, stated that his home state did not play any vital role in securing the release of his wife and child.
“I thank God first for everything, but it was my own effort and that of few concerned friends of mine that made the release possible. My state government that I have done so much for abandoned me to my fate when I needed them most, but no hard feelings,” he said.
On Tuesday, January 4, heavily armed kidnappers invaded the Agbani road, Enugu city residence of the hilarious entertainer and abducted his wife and three children. They later released two of the children, a boy and girl, while holding on to the wife and her baby boy.

Naeto C on World Famous Academy and How Ikechukwu disappionted Him.
When Ikechukwu was signed to Storm Records, he formed a gang with Naeto C and his (Ikechukwu) brother – Uzi calling themselves World Famous Academy (WFA). Since his departure from Storm, Naeto C has backed out so he (Naeto C) said in a recent interview. Read excerpt below:
What is the current state of the clique, ‘World Famous Academy’, that you formed with Ikechukwu?
World Famous Academy is Ikechukwu’s record label now. That is what he is pushing now, we are still brothers and he is still a part of my life but World Famous Academy is for him now. I’m not focusing on that anymore. The thing about it is that I can’t say I’m completely out of World Famous Academy; it’s like saying we are not friends anymore because when we started it, it wasn’t started as a label but as a kind of brotherhood. But now, it is his label and I’ll be the wrong person to ask what he is doing with it.
What was your reaction when you heard he left Storm Records?
I was a little disappointed because he didn’t tell me and I had to find out in the newspapers first.
Pregnancy Rumour: Omawumi Keeps Mum
Multiple sources, including a popular THISDAY columnist, are alleging that Idols West Africa 2007 finalist and multi-award winning singer-performer Omawumi is pregnant!
Just when Omawumi Megbele‘s new single ‘If you ask me‘ is still catching the fancy of her fans and friends, and both the radio stations and online journals are hyping the song religiously, we scooped that the singer might not only be busy with her upcoming sophomore album after all; she might also be getting ready to take turns at the hospital for regular ante-natal check-ups owning to her alleged pregnant state.
However, Ms Megbele’s refusal to neither pick our telephone calls nor respond to a couple of text messages we sent to her mobile phones only left more questions than answers. Why is Omawumi silent? Is she truly pregnant? Who’s the father of the unborn child if true? Is Marriage on the cards?
Omawumi broke up with her partner Dokta Frabz last year, but the pair have remained friends.
‘Hi Omawumi, sorry to disturb your afternoon. Just calling to clarify the rumour of your pregnancy. Would appreciate your reply. Thanks.’ one of our SMS to her reads. We never got a reply. Other messages and phone calls were also not responded to.
Since THISDAY reported on Sunday January 9 (without quoting any named sources) that the singer is pregnant and expecting, the industry has been buzzing, with many eager to know if the pregnancy story is true. Or not.
But the talented vocalist doesn’t seem bothered by all the tales anyway, as she confided in a source that she ‘would not make any comments’ on the issue.
