INTERVIEW WITH YORUBA ACTRESS BIMBO OSHIN

Bimbo Oshin-Ola Ibironke needs no introduction in the movie industry in Nigeria at a point in her career, she was off the stage and during that period there were conflicting stories about her professional career, the top actress is now back in the industry and better, doing what she knows how to do best, in a recent chat with a local celebrity magazine, City people, she talked about her life career and others.

AT WHAT STAGE ARE YOU NOWIN YOUR CAREER? WHAT'S YOUR ASSESSMENT OF YOUR MOVIE CAREER SO FAR?
I started acted in 1996. I just had a passion for it but I didn't know I was going to get this far. I give God the glory, So far so good.

WHAT MADE YOU EMBRACE ACTING?
At home, when I was younger, my brother and I used to get a tape recorder and does drama sketch. We used to do that in the house. From that the passion for acting just started. I was in school one day when a friend of mine who was in LASU came to my room and said she met Araosan and he did audition and said I do want to go into it. I was like Whoa! It's not a bad idea. Out of curiosity, I followed her, we did the audition and from there I stated going for rehearsals just to brush up.

WHAT MOVIE BROUGHT YOU INTO LIMELIGHT?
Akobi in 1997/1998. It was after this that I started falling in love with the profession. After Akobi other people called me for jobs and decided to start off big time. I realized it won't be a bad idea to act.

WHY ACT IN YORUBA MOVIES ALONE?
Because that was how I started. My friend took me to Araosan and I started from there but along the line I did some soap operas with Tunji Bamishingbin, Deji Adenuga, Super Story, I have done 2 or 3 English movies.
BETWEEN ENGLISH AND YORUBA MOVIES, WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER?

I am compatible with both.
WHAT HAS KEPT YOU GOING IN THE YORUBA MOVIE INDUSTRY, BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THERE IS NO MONEY IN ACTING?
I give glory to God. Without him I am nothing. I thank my husband too. He has always been there for me. He is my pillar. He tells me what to do and what not to do.

HOW EASY WAS IT GETTING MARRIED IN AN INDUSTRY WHERE MANY ACTRESSES ARE STILL SINGLE?
It is God. It is not by own doing. I know when to draw the line between work and home. I love the institution of marriage a lot. I respect it. It's all about balancing the two roles. I am a working mother.

HOW DID YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH OLA IBIRONKE? TELL US YOUR LOVE STORY. WHAT WAS THE ATRACTION?
He is very intelligent. I love intelligent people. The first time we met, he threw me off my feet. We started from there. He is a perfect gentleman. You know what I mean.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO TAKE TO SWEEP A BEAUTIFUL LADY LIKE BIMBO OFF HER FEET?
He is very honest. He is very humble, easy going. He is God fearing.

WAS IT A LETS SEE HOW IT GOES THING OR YOU INSTANTLY DECIDED TO MARRY HIM? HOW DID IT HAPPEN?
Yes we dated for a while, saw the qualities in each other and we decided to get married. We dated for 3 years. I have known him since 2001. We met at Golden Gate on the stairs. I was coming down and he was going up. He stopped to greet. Hi, what's up? And we took it from there.

HOW DOES HE COPE WITH YOUR SCHEDULE?
He quite understands. He knows when I am working and when I am not.

COULD IT BE BECAUSE HE IS INTO THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS?
Maybe. He is into that industry, but I guess it has to do with understanding. He knows the kind of person he is married to. I know the kind of person I am married to. He gives me time to be on location, he does not stress me. He does not stress me. He does not disturb me. He is just a wonderful man, very wonderful man.

AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHO IS BIMBO OSHIN?
I am a very respectful person, easy going, simple, mind my business. I am from a family 8, I am the 7th. My father is late. I love him so much. My mum is alive and kicking. I am from Ondo State. I left Ondo when I was six years old to live in Ife and Lagos. I went to staff school in Ile- Ife fro my elementary school. Then Girls Academy in Lagos, then University of Lagos to study Philosophy. I was in Year II when my friend came to invite me to acting, I would have been a business woman. I don't like this 8am- 5pm work. I was into selling and buying of women stuff.

WHAT ARE THE THINGS YOU WILL ATTRIBUTE THE SUCCESS OF YOUR MARRIAGE TO?
God, my husband. Being a good wife, then my mother-in- law. She is absolutely fantastic.

Kennis Music ‘Disturbed’ By Reports Saying Kelly Hansome Is Back On The Label

Kennis music said today, that it ‘cannot confirm’ if singer Kelly Hansome’s upcoming album will be on the label; and that they are are ‘disturbed’

Kennis CEO Keke Ogungbe tells us the singer has apologised to the label for past misdeeds, and a reconciliation has been brokered by concerned parties. But, no documents have been signed concerning any album; and that his new single, the controversial track where Kelly attacked Abuja-based label Chocolate City and its acts, is ‘not in any way endorsed by the label’.

‘Yes we’re very open to discussions with our acts, be it past or present. And in cases where the terms are right, we can even work with artistes we had earlier washed our hands off. No sentiments here; this is a business’ Ogungbe told us in a telephone conversation. Look at Eedris, we’re working together again, and everyone is happy. But on Kelly, I can’t tell you whether we will release his album or not. But the single you’re talking about was not released by Kennis music. Artistes who are responsible to a label do not release singles on their own. They hand over the master and let the labels do the rest. And I consider it a bit misleading for some reporters to say Kelly’s upcoming album will be on our label when we have not told anybody that’.

‘The only albums we’re pushing right now are those of Eedris Abdulkareem, KSB, Essence, Jaywon and The Pulse. We’re also planning to release Femi’s album as well as Goldie’.

Kelly’s new single, ‘Chocolate Boys (Freestyle) was released last week, shortly after media reports emerged saying the controversial singer was back on Kennis.

‘We’re a responsible label. We want to make music, make people happy, and unite the industry. We’re not about hate or controversy’. Ogungbe says. ‘We work with everybody: Mohits, Chocolate City, Storm, name it. We are all one. so why would we support any kind of music that preaches anything contrary to that’?

To many people Divorce is better than coffin ,which is true .
To others if you are not happy in marriage better divorce which is also true ,but can you just shut up and come with me to hear ugheli danda ?

TODAY ,i am about to come hard on our women and next shall be on our men,but all is for odi nma ndi igbo/Africa and taking back our LOVE and family hood ,which we sold for foreign culture that is uselessing our future and living.

Your life happiness ended the day you took your marriage to a judge or the day you get yourself a DIVORCE lawyer ,that was the day you wave bye bye to your joy and happiness .

n this respect ,i am talking of marriage that was contracted in African home town ,not the likes obtained in Western world,such as the one you meet a spouse on the train,shopping mall or disco and in next hour both of you rush to Marriage registry and come out HUS-BOUND AND WIPE .

Which owing to the same chaotic way it was contracted ,it ends the same way and no crocodile tear ,no love lost because none was gained to start with .

Ladies here is where i have axe to grind with you because 97% of divorce are generated by women,who felt that they want to be independent of a man but depend on him for upkeep and the demands of life.

When you Divorce a man ,that means you are fed up with him and his way of life,you do not want anything to do with him.He is evil that you cannot stand and do not wish to have anything to do with.

But you lied ,big time to yourself,your children and posterity.

If you hate the man long enough that you ran quickly to divorce him ,why then did you accept CHILD SUPPORT ,ALIMONY and other jargons that benefit the lady from same BAD MAN ?,does it mean that the man is not bad ,but you want freedom to taste things out there without restrictions or questions ?

Why do you share in his wealth ? oburu na iju ekwensu ,iju ya na olu ya nile [if you reject evil ,you will hate all his works and benefit].
If you hate man enough to Divorce him ,you will hate the Money he was compelled to pay you under tears and duress .You cannot hate him and love his money and alimony ,it is Evil standard.

Does it not occur to you that ,you are killing that same man every month end ?,that he also hate you every month end, and you remember him every month end ?,which brings to mind ,you are still in LOVE WITH him through his money .

Do you not think that if you are to be involved in an accident and have 5 seconds to live and he is the only person that will save you ,i am sure that he will RATHER drink posion than to lift a hand toward saving you ,so that you will continue exploiting his life,because your demise is a relief to him...Yes,once you divorced him and continue extorting from him, money that he do not have,money that he would prefer to use for other things and you conspire with a judge that know nothing about parenthood and nail the man to a cross,that was the day you killed another human and in this case the father of your children.

If you hate the man enough to divorce him ,please hate his money enough to reject it.

If you do not want his relationship ,do not relate to his money.If you can handle a family on your own ,why bother asking the HUS-BOUND to slave for you ?.

If you hate the man enough to divorce him ,better hate the children he brought to this world with your consent, give them back to him,but if you hold unto his children and,extort money from him ,call it child support or alimony ,then you never divorced him .... YOU ARE TAKING HIM TO CLEANERS to make his life miserably.

Just look at the mirror in your house now and you will see some inscription on your forehead,it reads FRAUD.

Do not pretend that you do not know that the man you are extorting is cursing you and the day he met you at the end of every month ,when he will pay you for blackmailing him with support of a judge.

Also you curse him every month end he delayed in paying your ransom.

Tommorrow some of you will talk about 419,fraud and evil ,is there any thing that is more horrifying than a man took his time to marry a woman ,bring her to his home to be his wife,make her mother of his children and the woman owing to some stupid western culture will weave a fetter of Iron and hung it around the man,s neck.Which will make the man she formerly confessed loving to be paying her RANSOM to the rest of the man,s life, which the woman made useless in the first place.I wonder what some of this women will say about kidnappers that demand ransom?,but i prefer kidnappers because it is one time event ,but divorce is monthly ransom paid with tears and wears.

Listen and listen good ,every penny you collected as Child support or alimony is EXTORTION AND EXPLOITATION and do not worry about praying, for you can fool men but not God.If you want child support move back to your husband and both of you can bring the children up with parental care and love,but if you think that you are WESTERN ENOUGH to be liberated ,then stop extorting money from the man you,ve RUINED for life.

Before i go ,i also wonder why it never occured to women that once you divorce a man ,you should also divorce the SURNAME ,not after
you divorce a man ,you retain his surname and you think you have sense ?.

When you divorce a man and took his children ,what do you tell the children about the dad ? ,that your husband who is the father of your children is USELESS drunk or stupid ?,but you OPEN UP ENOUGH to get pregnant from same useless and stupid man .Do you know that automatically you are telling the children that they are product of unprotected sex ? that they are offspring of Drunkard and which means they will end up been drunk and Stupid .

Do you tell them that thier father is useless ? that you are the wife of a useless Husband who brought into this world USELESS CHILDREN ?.

Did you consider for a minute that everything you said to your children about thier father has a big role to play in what they will be in life ?.

LANDLORD SET TO EJECT NOLLYWOOD’S OBY EDOZIE OVER UNPAID RENT

One of the controversial actresses in Nollywood, Oby Edozie who is rumoured to have beaten her mother who recently returned from London to Nigeria to stupor is said to be having a serious fisticuffs with her landlord over unpaid rent. The landlord of her house at Eloseh Street, near Kilo-Masha, by Oduduwa in Surulere area of Lagos is said to have issued a quit notice to her when it has become so evident that she’s not ready to pay for the accumulative house rent which got due since last year.

On receiving the quit notice, Oby, wwe were told, sprung into action and started insulting the aged man to the extent that other tenants who are also in her shoes felt bad about her utterances and started pleading on her behalf to the landlord.

As you are reading this, Oby and her landlord have dragged themselves to Police station over the matter and from the look of things the case may be taken to court.
